National Team Players Associations and Canada Soccer Ratify Collective Agreement
Agreement promises equitable compensation and working conditions for Canada’s men’s and women’s national teams
Davies acted pro bono for the Canadian Soccer Players Association, the union representing members of the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team, who, along with Canada Soccer and the union representing the Men’s National Team, announced the formal ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement. Members of the Women’s National Team had been without a collective agreement since their prior agreement expired at the end of 2021, and fought publicly for fair and equitable treatment from their federation.
The new agreement covers, among other things, base compensation, performance-based bonus structures and commercial terms, along with guidelines for travel, accommodations and improved parental benefits. Promising equitable compensation and working conditions for the Men’s and Women’s National Teams, this agreement marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Canada Soccer.
The agreement is effective from June 1, 2024 through December 31, 2027.
