Funding advances Hydrostor’s solution for modernizing electricity grids globally
Davies acted for Hydrostor, a Canadian company that provides advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) solutions, in securing a US$230-million equity investment to fund its 7 GW global project pipeline. The investment comprises a previously announced convertible note financing commitment from Canada Growth Fund, Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, plus funding from Baker Hughes, Hatch, Realize Capital Partners and others.
The financing will advance Hydrostor's flagship U.S. project, the 500 MW Willow Rock Energy Storage Center, toward financial close in late 2026, with groundbreaking planned for later this year. Hydrostor's A-CAES technology offers a critical solution to unprecedented electricity demand growth by supporting affordable, reliable modern grids.
The Davies team advising Hydrostor was led by Brooke Jamison and includes Daniel Pearlman, Ahmed Mudathir, John Aziz and Natasha Burman (Corporate); and Andrew Ellis (Tax).
