Davies Honoured at the 2025 Benchmark Litigation Awards 

Two Davies litigation teams won Impact Case Awards at the Benchmark Litigation Awards held last night in Toronto. Their contributions to Cormark Securities Inc (Re) and Lilleyman v. Bumble Bee Foods LLC were highlighted and commended.

• In Cormark Securities Inc (Re), a team led by Derek Ricci and Chantelle Cseh achieved a rare complete victory for a respondent in resisting enforcement proceedings before the Capital Markets Tribunal of the Ontario Securities Commission. The team acted for Saline Investments Ltd.
• In similar precedent-setting style, a team led by Sandra Forbes and Chantelle Cseh successfully represented StarKist Company and Dongwon Industries Company Limited in class action proceedings commenced in Ontario alleging anti-competitive behaviour in the market for canned tuna. The team successfully defeated certification in the Ontario Superior Court and that decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada in Lilleyman v. Bumble Bee Foods LLC.

As further testament to the innovative advocacy and groundbreaking work of our litigators, we were once again recognized as Competition Firm of the Year.

These wins come one night after Sandra Forbes, chosen from a shortlist of seven Excellence Awardees, took the top spot as Litigator of the Year and our litigators took home Commercial Litigation Team of the Year at the Canadian Law Awards.
