Davies Named Canada Corporate Firm of the Year at 2021 IFLR Americas Awards

Davies has been named Canada Corporate Firm of the Year at the International Financial Law Review’s 2021 Americas Awards.

The award reflects our standing as a leading transactional firm. With strategy and innovation always top of mind, we take an agile – yet measured – approach to every cross-border deal.

Davies advised on numerous groundbreaking cross-border deals across sectors and jurisdictions last year, including acting for:

  • The Pallinghurst Group in its joint 50-50 acquisition with Investissement Québec of Nemaska Lithium Inc. pursuant to a sales process under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), which marked the first reverse vesting order granted in a contested CCAA proceeding;
  • Xplornet Communications Inc., Canada’s largest rural-focused broadband service provider, in its sale to Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners for over US$2 billion; and
  • Foundation Building Materials, Inc. (FBM) and Lone Star Funds in the US$1.37-billion sale of all outstanding FBM shares to an affiliate of American Securities LLC, a leading private equity firm.

The IFLR Americas Awards celebrate the most legally innovative cross-border transactions that closed in the past year in North America, Central America and South America. The awards are a culmination of extensive research and interviews with private-practice lawyers, in-house counsel and financing specialists at investment banks.
