Davies partner Vince Mercier was named Corporate Lawyer of the Year at the Chambers Canada Awards 2021, held virtually on September 9.

Recognized as one of Canada’s leading M&A lawyers, Vince played a central role in some of the country’s most transformative domestic and cross-border transactions in the past year, including advising:

• Kansas City Southern, as its Canadian counsel, in its approximately US$31-billion merger agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway Limited – the largest Canadian M&A transaction to be launched this year;
• Shaw Communications Inc. in its C$26-billion deal with Rogers Communications Inc. – the largest M&A deal announced in 2021 for a Canadian target; and
• Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corporation in Air Canada’s approximately $6-billion financing agreements with the Government of Canada through the Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility program.

In the 2022 edition of Chambers Canada, Davies is among the most outstanding law firms in Canada, once again receiving the highest percentage of Band 1 lawyer rankings, with 18 of our lawyers receiving a total of 21 Band 1 rankings.
