What surprised you most about Davies during the interview process?

I was profoundly impressed by the level of detail my interviewers went into: one Davies partner — by memory — directly quoted a sentence (in the form of an interview question) from an op-ed article I had written three years earlier. I was sold on the firm immediately.

Do you have any significant awards or accomplishments, either in school or in your personal life?

I worked for the World Bank in Washington, DC, assisting elected officials and judges in developing and reforming institutions and amending corporate restructuring laws. I learned about the legislative process, bureaucracy and working with policymakers. Thankfully I didn’t cause any diplomatic incidents.

Whom do you most admire?

My grandfather. He was a personal bankruptcy trustee from Merlin, Ontario, and was consistently the best-dressed person in the office. He loved the people he had the privilege to help, and he was an extraordinary example to his six grandchildren.
