First Nations Venture Capital of Québec II Fund Launches

November 27, 2025

The fund will generate positive impacts for Québec First Nations

Today, First Nations Venture Capital of Québec (FNVCQ) announced the launch of its First Nations Venture Capital of Québec II Fund, LP (FNVCQ II Fund), an impact fund of over $45 million intended to support the social and economic development of Québec First Nations communities. The announcement was made at the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations, in Wendake, in the presence of First Nations representatives, institutional investors, government partners, the Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and the Inuit, Ian Lafrenière and the Economy, Innovation and Energy Minister, Christine Fréchette.

As an innovative investment tool helmed “by and for” members of Québec First Nations, the FNVCQ II Fund aims to facilitate access to capital for First Nations business people by offering them financing tailored to their needs and supplemental to other existing sources of financing, while supporting the capacity development of Indigenous businesses.

Partners Elise Beauregard and Andrea Dupuis acted for FNVCQ, in part on a pro bono basis, negotiating the various agreements and arrangements necessary for the creation of this unique new investment fund. “This fund is much more than an investment tool: it is a concrete, thought-out and sustainable commitment to the economic self-determination of First Nations. It was a pleasure for us to contribute our expertise towards the achievement of this goal,” Beauregard says.

Beauregard and Dupuis were supported by a team of leading Davies lawyers, including Kassandra Desmarais and Véronique Chantigny (Corporate and Private Equity); Marie-Emmanuelle Vaillancourt and Sabina Han (Tax); and Anne-Frédérique Bourret (Environmental and Indigenous).

Davies is pleased to have contributed to establishing the FNVCQ II Fund, which will generate positive impacts for First Nations communities in Québec.
