Acted for the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport (now known as Réseau de transport métropolitain [RTM]) in defence of its right to establish a reserve for public purposes upon certain immovable property.

Petro-Canada

Acted as a special mediator for Petro-Canada in reaching the settlement between Petro-Canada and its 260 employees of its Montréal-East refinery in a lock-out since November 17, 2007. A new collective agreement was also prepared which expired January 31, 2007.

Corus Entertainment Inc.

Acted successfully for Corus Entertainment Inc. in its representation before the Governor in Council who refused to quash a decision by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission approving the exchange of various radio stations (including CKAC) between Corus and Astral Media Inc.

Russel Metals Inc.

Acted for Russel Metals Inc. in connection with its acquisition of Leroux Steel Inc. in a transaction valued at approximately $185 million.

Hydro-Québec/Grand Council of the Crees

Acted as mediator in the achievement of a settlement of pending lawsuits, as well as land, economic and financial issues, between the Grand Council of the Crees and Hydro-Québec in relation to the development of the Cree territory in Northern Québec.

Société des alcools du Québec

Acted as lead negotiator for the Société des alcools du Québec in a strike of its unionized employees (SEMB).

Olymel L.P.

Acted for Olymel as negotiator in high-profile labour and commercial disputes.

Les avocats et notaires de l'état québécois (LANEQ)

Successfully acted for Les avocats et notaires de l'État québécois (LANEQ), the professional union representing the vast majority of the lawyers and notaries employed by the Government of Québec in its public service or by other mandataries of the State (Agence du revenu du Québec, Régie de l'énergie, Autorité des marchés financiers and Autorité des marchés publics), in its negotiations with the Government of Québec, including for the reform of its members' collective bargaining plan. The Government of Québec and LANEQ concluded an agreement establishing a joint committee to determine whether the lawyers and notaries of the Québec civil service have a distinctive character. If so, the Government has undertaken to reform their collective bargaining regime. The agreement was qualified as “historic” by both parties.

Secrétariat du travail du Québec

Appointed by the Minister responsible for Labour to act as special mediator in connection with the labour dispute at ABI's Bécancour aluminium smelter.

Daisye Marcil

Acted for the plaintiffs in a class action involving all Québec parents who were required to pay fees for the purchase of school books or other didactic material even though these fees should have been assumed by the school boards.

Association québécoise des pharmaciens propriétaires

Acted for the Association québécoise des pharmaciens propriétaires (Québec Association of Owner Pharmacists [AQPP]) in connection with an application for arbitration against Québec's Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS). The AQPP claimed that the MSSS had breached an agreement between them, resulting in a loss of potential earnings of more than $150 million for pharmacists. The AQPP reached a settlement with the MSSS, thus saving its members several hundred million dollars in payments.
