Patricia Olasker Interviewed by Activist Insight on Activist Investor Paul Hilal

Activist Insight Monthly recently interviewed Patricia Olasker for an article on the campaigning history and style of activist investor Paul Hilal of Mantle Ridge, with whom Davies has worked since Paul’s campaign involving Canadian Pacific Railway.

Patricia commented that although Hilal’s record is “a small body of work…everything is a masterpiece.”

The article notes that Hilal has established a reputation for rigorous research, intellectual honesty and openness to other perspectives.

In August, Hilal’s New York firm Mantle Ridge disclosed its 20% stake in its latest target, Philadelphia-based Aramark. Since then, the CEO of the food services company announced his retirement and the company has agreed to a board revamp.

When asked about Hilal’s approach to proxy contests, Patricia commented that he has reservations “100% of the time,” adding that “he sees them as costly and potentially harmful, but he’s not afraid to go there if he has to.”
