We are pleased to announce that, effective today, Sarbjit (Sarb) Basra is Davies’ new Managing Partner in Toronto.

In his new role, Sarb will head the Toronto office and will work jointly with Philippe Johnson, Managing Partner in Montréal, to lead a strategy in line with our core commitment to excellence and singular focus on our clients’ success.

A partner at Davies since 1996, Sarb is widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading corporate lawyers specializing in private fund formation, private equity investment transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He is a trusted adviser to many of the leading private equity and venture capital firms in Canada and the United States. Sarb will continue to devote time to his practice and our clients.

Having served on the firm’s Management Committee since 2012, Sarb brings a proven track record of leadership to the role. He intends to work closely with clients to deepen relationships and continue our dedicated focus on our clients’ evolving needs.

Sarb succeeds Shawn McReynolds, who decided to step down as Managing Partner last fall after more than a decade of leadership. Shawn will remain active as a partner with the firm.
