Charles Tingley Hosts Counterfactual Podcast Discussing the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot

Davies partner Charles Tingley hosts the latest episode of the CBA’s Counterfactual podcast which focuses on the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot, named in memory of former Davies competition law partner and esteemed advocate, Adam Fanaki. Featured guests and co-organizers of the moot, Majid Charania, Director of Compliance, Competition Bureau of Canada and Katherine Rydel, Counsel, Competition Bureau Legal Services, speak with Charles about what makes the Fanaki Moot so special to the competition law community in Canada.

The Adam Fanaki Competition Law Moot was created in 2019 and this year teams are competing from 10 schools, including two French-language faculties, making this the first bilingual edition of the event.

The Fanaki Moot is organized annually by the Competition Bureau, the Competition Tribunal and the Canadian Bar Association and gives Canadian law students the chance to tackle timely, complex civil or criminal issues at the cutting edge of competition law. Participants have the opportunity to obtain feedback from top law enforcers, judges and specialist practitioners in an intimate setting.

Davies is a proud supporter of the Fanaki Moot. This year, in addition to Davies’ sponsorship role, Davies lawyers are participating in several capacities. Charles Tingley is coaching the McGill Faculty of Law team, while his Davies partner in Montréal, Julie Girard, is coaching the team from L’Université Laval’s Faculty of Law. In addition, fellow Davies partners Elisa Kearney and Chanakya Sethi will be participating as panel judges.
