Poonam Puri Receives Peter Dey Achievement in Governance Award

Poonam Puri, Davies Affiliated Scholar, has received the 2022 Peter Dey Governance Achievement Award from the Governance Professionals of Canada.

This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has positively impacted governance and contributed to transforming the way that Canadian companies are governed.

Previous recipients of this honour include Katie Taylor, RBC Board Chair, and the late Tom O’Neill, former Scotiabank Board Chair. Only two other academics in Canada have received this recognition and it comes as no surprise to her colleagues at Davies that Professor Puri has joined their ranks. Professor Puri is also a recipient of the Mundell Medal (2020), the Law Society Medal (2021) and the Royal Society of Canada’s Yvan Allaire Medal (2021).

A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Harvard Law School, Professor Puri is one of Canada’s most respected leaders in corporate governance. Currently a full professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, she is a former Associate Dean of the school, founder of its LLM program and cofounder of its Investor Protection Clinic, the first of its kind in Canada.
