Global Restructuring Review Names Davies a Top 100 Firm

For the sixth consecutive year, Global Restructuring Review has recognized Davies among the top 100 law firms in the world for cross-border restructuring and insolvency work.

Highlights of our notable work from the past year include representing

  • FTI Consulting Canada Inc. in its capacity as court-appointed monitor of Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited and its affiliated corporation, Imperial Tobacco Company Limited, in proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) and Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code;
  • McKesson Canada Corporation in Purdue Pharma’s voluntary proceedings under the CCAA in Canada and Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code;
  • several partners and creditors of Groupe Sélection regarding its high-profile and contentious restructuring proceedings under the CCAA;
  • The Aldo Group Inc. in its successful restructuring under the CCAA , the most significant cross-border footprint in Canadian restructurings;
  • the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) as Canadian counsel in defence of an adversary proceeding under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code relating to the historic February 2021 winter storm in Texas and the resulting extraordinary demands on the state’s power grid;
  • Gotham Green Partners, LLC, a New York-based private equity firm focused on global cannabis and cannabis-related enterprises, as special insolvency and tax counsel in the first successful restructuring of a Canadian cannabis company, iAnthus Capital Holdings, Inc., by way of a corporate plan of arrangement; and
  • Reitmans (Canada) Limited, a TSX-listed clothing retailer with approximately 600 stores across Canada operating under five different banners (Reitmans, Penningtons, Addition Elle, Thyme Maternity and RW&CO.), in its restructuring under the CCAA.
