Davies Representing Plaintiffs in Class Action Against Canada Artistic Swimming

Davies lawyers Cara Cameron and Hannah Toledano are representing five members of Canada’s national artistic swimming teams (formerly called synchronized swimming) in a class action lawsuit brought against their national sporting organization, Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS), for failing to protect them and their fellow athletes from psychological abuse, neglect and harassment. Davies is representing the swimmers on a pro bono basis.

Petitioners and the other members of Canada’s national artistic swimming teams since 2010 are asking CAS to take responsibility for the verbal and emotional abuse, body shaming, neglect, discrimination and intimidation that the national teams were subjected to by those in positions of authority, including coaches, support team staff and administrators. Petitioners assert that it is time for meaningful change and that the physical and psychological health of athletes on Canada’s national athletic swimming teams should no longer be subordinated to performance.

Davies is jointly prosecuting this proposed class action with Tyr LLP.
