Davies Named Canada M&A Legal Advisory Firm of the Year by Mergermarket
Davies has been named Canada M&A Legal Advisory Firm of the Year – the sole prize awarded to a Canadian law firm – at Mergermarket’s inaugural North America M&A Awards.
Senior M&A partner Melanie Shishler accepted the award on behalf of Davies at the virtual awards ceremony on June 17, 2021.
Known for bringing a precise balance of creativity and practicality to our clients’ most critical deals, we’ve recently acted for:
- Kansas City Southern in its approximately US$31-billion merger agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway Limited – the largest Canadian M&A transaction to be launched this year
- Roxgold Inc. in its C$1.1-billion business combination with Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. to create a premier growth-oriented global intermediate gold and silver producer
- Shaw Communications Inc. in its agreement to sell all of its issued and outstanding Class A and Class B shares valued at C$26 billion to Rogers Communications Inc. – the largest M&A deal announced in 2021 for a Canadian target and the 12th largest in history
- French train manufacturer Alstom S.A. as Canadian counsel in its €4.4-billion strategic acquisition of Bombardier Transportation, which closed in January 2021. With the closing of the deal, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec became Alstom’s main shareholder, with 17.5% of Alstom’s share capital.
