Poonam Puri Appointed to Ontario Securities Commission
Davies affiliated scholar Poonam Puri has been appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) for a two-year term.
Poonam is a respected scholar and commentator on issues of corporate governance, corporate law, securities law and financial regulation. For the past 20 years, she has been a Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she teaches and conducts research on securities regulation and investor protection. She was one of two research directors for the Expert Panel on Securities Regulation, which led to the proposed common securities regulator.
The mandate of the OSC is to provide investors with protection from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices and to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets.
