This article discusses significant changes made by the Canadian government in 2012: the June 29, 2012, amendments to the Telecommunications Act reflecting a plan to promote domestic competition; the introduction of a number of proposed amendments to Canada’s foreign investment review process under the Investment Canada Act with the purpose of increasing the level of transparency for ICA-related decisions; as well as a focus on reviewing of the acquisition of control of Canadian businesses by foreign State-Owned Enterprises.
