Brigitte Brathwaite is the Director, Linguistic Services and Lawyer-revisor who heads the firm's Legal linguistic Services and Review Group. She is consulted on all files on which the legal translation and review of documents are required. Brigitte supervises the translation of a variety of legal documents and coordinates with all the parties involved. As a lawyer-revisor, she reviews the translation of a wide range of legal documents relating mainly to securities law and commercial law – namely, securities disclosure documents that must be filed with the various Canadian securities commissions – but also the translation of other documents of a legal nature.
Brigitte has more than 16 years of experience in legal revision. She is a member of the firm’s Francization Committee in Montréal.
Translating, updating and reviewing legal documents; proofreading; terminology research and consulting; coordinating translation work with the different parties involved (mainly translators, auditors, printers, lawyers and clients); making applications to the AMF for translation exemptions; drafting legal opinions on translations; and coordinating the filing of translated documents with Canadian securities regulators.
