Combining her academic background in criminology and socio-legal studies with her passion for advocacy and employment law, Alexis delivers practical and diverse business solutions for her clients.

Alexis is a seasoned lawyer with expertise in both provincial and federal law regarding daily employment and labour matters. She has acted in a number of complex high-profile transactions as well as cross-border files for clients in Canada and abroad across a range of industries.

She regularly advises clients on employment standards and compliance matters, policies and agreements, performance management, hiring, termination and severance matters, human rights issues, labour relations, and all related litigation matters. Alexis has represented clients with success before courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Federal Court of Appeal, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Ontario Labour Relations Board and Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

Alexis also has experience in collective bargaining negotiations, Ministry of Labour complaints and matters related to workplace health and safety. Trained in conducting workplace harassment and violence investigations, she has supported employers through workplace accident and fatality incidents.

Before joining Davies, Alexis practised at a Toronto labour and employment law firm, a global professional services firm and a national firm.

Acted for Define Capital Inc. in its C$20-million fundraising and subsequent acquisition of two Ontario-based software companies.

Vance Street Capital LLC

Acted for Vance Street Capital, a Los Angeles private equity fund, in the sale of Terra Insights, a Vancouver-based geotechnical, structural and geospatial monitoring company, to Orica for cash consideration of C$505 million. 

Mondi plc

Acted for Mondi plc, a global leader in the production of sustainable packaging and paper, in its acquisition of the Hinton Pulp mill from West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. (West Fraser) and its long-term partnership with West Fraser to access local, high-quality fibre from well-established wood basket, as well as with Mondi plc’s plans to invest €400 million in the expansion of Hinton.

Bruker Corporation

Acted for Bruker Corporation in its acquisition of Tornado Spectral Systems Inc., a company that provides chemical analysis and measurement systems for Raman spectroscopy primarily used in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and biotechnology applications. 

The Body Shop Canada Limited

Acting for The Body Shop Canada Limited Inc. with its restructuring under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, which include liquidating 33 stores across Canada. 

Mastermind Toys

Acted for Mastermind Toys in its proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, which included liquidating 18 stores and the sale of majority of its locations to Mastermind Toys Inc., a subsidiary of Unity Acquisitions Inc.

Design World LLC d/b/a WTWH Media, LLC

Acted as Canadian counsel to Design World LLC d/b/a WTWH Media, LLC, a Mountaingate Capital portfolio company, in its acquisition via a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary of substantially all the assets of Engineering.com Incorporated, a media website operator focused on engineering related content.

Infinity Home Services

Acted for Infinity Homes Services, a private equity-backed leader in residential roofing and exterior remodeling services, in its Canadian acquisition of D'Angelo & Sons Construction Limited, a roofing company serving the Greater Toronto Area.

BMS Group

Acted for BMS Group in its acquisition of Smith & Reid Insurance Brokers and O’Neil Insurance Brokers.

Sustana

Acted for Sustana, a portfolio company of Blackstone, in its acquisition of Hanna Paper, a high-grade paper recycling company.

Ironbridge Equity Partners

Acted for Ironbridge Equity Partners in its acquisition (and related financing) of the Gesco Group of Companies, a leading specialty distributor of floor covering solutions across Canada, pursuant to a sale proceeding conducted under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.

BELLUS Health Inc.

Acted for BELLUS Health Inc. in its US$2-billion sale to GSK plc, a British-based pharmaceutical company.

Mountaingate Capital

Acted for Mountaingate Capital Management II, L.P. in its strategic investment in Bond Brand Loyalty Group, a leading marketing, customer experience and loyalty software management group.

GreenV B.V.

Acted for Green V B.V. in its acquisition of JV Energy Solutions Inc., a provider of customer-specific heating, electrical engineering and insulation for the greenhouse horticulture industry.
