Mark Katz and Anita Banicevic Speak to Global Competition Review About the Call for Reporting in the Digital Sector

A recent article in Global Competition Review (available to subscribers) featured Mark Katz and Anita Banicevic’s reactions to the Competition Bureau’s call for businesses and consumers to report potentially anticompetitive conduct in the digital economy.

Mark commented that there is “no question that the bureau has made enforcement in the digital economy a top priority, perhaps its highest priority.”

Anita said the call “is styled as an information gathering tool,” noting that the bureau refers to the possibility of meeting with those who have concerns about practices in the sector, but not with companies operating in digital markets to gather their perspectives. She added that companies operating in this space may nonetheless proactively offer to meet with the bureau to provide the authority with a fuller perspective.
