Davies Appoints Sarbjit Basra as Managing Partner in Toronto

Sarbjit (Sarb) Basra, a senior corporate partner and member of the firm’s Management Committee, will succeed Shawn McReynolds on June 1, 2020. Shawn will step down after 10 years as Managing Partner and remain a Partner with the firm.

Sarb joined Davies in 1992, upon graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School, and became a Partner in 1996. He is widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading corporate lawyers with a focus on private fund formation, private equity investment transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He advises many of the leading private equity and venture capital firms in Canada and the U.S., and he has served as an advisor to the Government of Canada on various venture and growth capital initiatives designed to attract capital from the private sector. Sarb will continue to devote time to his practice.

Sarb has served on the firm’s Management Committee for seven years and brings a proven track record of leadership to the role.
