Financial Times Ranks Davies Among North America’s Top Innovative Law Firms

The report recognizes our exceptional contributions to legal innovation for the fourth year in a row.

The Financial Times has recognized Davies as one of North America’s 25 Most Innovative Law Firms for Legal Expertise for 2018. This is the fourth consecutive year that Davies has been ranked in the prestigious annual report for our exceptional contributions to legal innovation.

Davies received a “Highly Commended” ranking for its role in working with Nigig Power Corporation, a subsidiary of Henvey Inlet First Nation, and partner Pattern Development, a renewable power company, to obtain permission to construct Canada’s largest wind farm, navigating regulations and environmental policies. The wind farm will generate more than C$10 million annually for Henvey Inlet and other First Nations.

The firm also received a “Commended” ranking for negotiating the first court-approved cooperation protocol between an Israeli court officer and a Canadian court-appointed monitor, facilitating cross-border insolvency proceedings relating to the restructuring of stricken Toronto-based developer Urbancorp.

Shawn McReynolds, managing partner of the Toronto office, was profiled in an article in the report on Canadian senior lawyers who are driving change in their organizations.

The FT North America Innovative Lawyers report and accompanying awards recognize exceptional innovation in law firms and lawyers across Canada, the United States and Mexico. For the 2018 report, leading law firms and in-house legal teams sent more than 500 submissions for consideration.
