Philippe Johnson – Managing Partner, Montréal

We are pleased to announce that Philippe Johnson is the new Managing Partner of the Montréal office of Davies, effective today, June 1, 2017.

In his new role, Philippe will lead our Montréal team and, with Shawn McReynolds, Managing Partner of the Toronto office, guide Davies’ continued growth – nationally and internationally – as an innovative firm committed to peerless excellence and embracing our clients’ high-stakes challenges as if they were our own.

A leading M&A and corporate/commercial lawyer, Philippe has advised leading Canadian, U.S. and international companies on their investments, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, joint ventures and other initiatives, including many landmark cross-border and international transactions. He has been a member of our Management Committee since 2012.

Philippe exemplifies the Davies commitment to giving back to our communities. He serves as a director and trustee of Fondation Montréal inc., a non-profit organization that funds and supports young entrepreneurs in Montréal. He is also a director of Fondation Serge Marcil, which works to improve the well-being of children in Haiti and Africa.

“Philippe has a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and goals,” says Pierre-André Themens, who has retired as Managing Partner after 17 years but remains active in his new role as counsel at the firm. “He works on their behalf with the clarity, speed, intelligence and creative problem solving for which Davies is known – in Montréal, across Canada and around the globe.”
