Galen is excited to apply the problem-solving and critical thinking skills he honed during his undergraduate biochemistry studies to tackling complex legal issues.

He chose Davies because it offers students the opportunity to explore and become competent in a range of practice areas without feeling pressured to commit to just one.

Is there an organization that means a lot to you?

I joined the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in 2006 and have been involved with the program ever since. The experience I gained in the program has taught me how to be a strong leader and has given me the confidence to know I can overcome any obstacle. Five years ago, I joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a commissioned officer and I quickly progressed to become the Executive Officer of my corps.

What are you most looking forward to during your time at Davies?

The chance to work with, and learn from, the firm’s strong lawyers. My experience with the cadet program has taught me the value of mentorship, and I am truly excited to learn from some of the best lawyers in Canada.

Whom do you most admire?

My mother. I was born just before she started nursing school, and she raised me alone while completing her degree and building a successful career as a labour and delivery nurse.
