Coordinator, Talent, Development & Inclusion

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Talent Initiatives, the Coordinator will work closely with the talent team to develop and implement programs across all areas of the talent lifecycle from recruitment through to ongoing lawyer education and assessment.

Primary Responsibilities

Student and lawyer training & development programs

  • Coordinating all student and lawyer education programs
  • Preparing first draft of annual training schedule including identifying new programs and speakers where appropriate
  • Taking the lead to ensure program readiness including confirming speaker availability, materials etc. Work with presenters to ensure materials are kept up to date and are constantly evolving to incorporate new techniques for program delivery
  • Ensuring the proper logistical administration of all training programs including sending the invitations, tracking attendance, coordinating with hostessing services, room set up, distribution of materials etc.
  • Working with the department assistant to obtain program feedback
  • Regularly updating the intranet with department events; providing content for external postings to social media as required
  • Act as the internal expert on the Québec Continuing Legal Education rules and ensure compliance by both the firm and lawyers with all CLE regulations
  • Update the CLE credit tracking database when and where required
  • Preparing on-going reports as needed
  • Assist with the delivery of other talent management programs including the associate evaluation process, the ramp off/ramp on program for lawyers on leaves of absence and other programs as required

Student and lawyer recruitment

  • Provide ongoing year round assistance to the Sr Director and Manager on student and lateral hiring including the coordination of events with various law faculties
  • Coordinate the onboarding activities for our students and lateral lawyers
  • Oversee the work of the department administrative assistant in ensuring our internal recruitment database is kept up to date and administer the lateral lawyer integration module
  • Provide hands-on assistance in the planning and coordination of social events for candidates, summer students and lawyers as required

Firm-wide bulletin/other internal and external communications

  • Solicitation for and coordination of the Montréal content for the firm-wide newsletter
  • Proofreading and translation of Montréal content
  • Maintain the social media calendar for the Montréal office student Facebook and Instagram accounts
  • Create content for social media postings in collaboration with the Department Manager

Department coordination

  • Work cooperatively with the other members of the team to complete tasks, achieve objectives and exceed expectations
  • Attend team meetings
  • Respond promptly to requests and inquiries from internal and external clients
  • Contribute, proactively, to the ongoing development of the department
  • Other duties as assigned on an on-going basis

Qualifications and skills

  • Undergraduate or CEGEP degree with 2-5 years’ experience in a program coordination role or other similar post that provided significant interaction with senior professionals law firm or other professional services firm experience an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-starter who can take initiative and direction and work efficiently and with minimal supervision
  • Client service and solution oriented
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and results oriented
  • Bilingual English /French
  • Flexibility – program delivery can occur in early morning, evenings and/or weekends but advance notice will always be provided
