Sarah Powell is a partner in the environmental group.  She has experience in a broad range of environmental matters including environmental impact assessment, environmental approvals, trans-border movement of regulated substances, environmental offences, energy and contaminated sites.

Sarah’s principal focus is on providing advice on the impact of environmental law on real estate, business and lending transactions, securities offerings and disclosures and environmental compliance issues.  Sarah also spends a significant amount of time on several litigation matters that involve contaminated sites.

Sarah has written and spoken extensively on a variety of environmental law issues, including due diligence, the regulation of water and the redevelopment of brownfields.  She is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Environmental Law, is Immediate Past Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association and Member-at-Large of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section.  Sarah is consistently recognized in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory (2004-2008) and is listed as a leading lawyer in the 2008 PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook and the 2007 Best Lawyers in Canada directory.

Sarah obtained a B.A. (Honours) from McGill University 1988 and an LL.B. from Queen's University in 1991.  She became a partner in 1998.
