Tim Youdan is a partner in our trusts and estates practice.  Tim's practice is diverse and covers all aspects of our trusts and estates work from planning to litigation.

Tim is a leading trusts and estates practitioner regularly advising on the establishment and administration of domestic and international trusts, both personal and commercial.  Tim is consulted by domestic and foreign-based private clients, institutions (such as trust companies and charities) and law firms and he acts as counsel in estates and trusts litigation.

Tim writes frequently and extensively on trusts and estates matters, including tax planning in the trusts and estates field.  A frequent speaker at professional conferences, Tim has been a member of various committees of the Canadian Bar Association – Ontario, including the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates section.  He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  Tim is annually recognized as one of the most frequently recommended estate planning practitioners and is cited as a repeatedly recommended practitioner in the area of personal tax planning in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory

Tim was formerly a chancery barrister in England (1973-77); a law professor at the University of Western Ontario (1977-83) and at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University (1984-91);  a part-time teacher at Cambridge University (1974-77, 1983-84);  and he has been a visiting fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge (1983-84) and of St. Catharine's College, Oxford (1991-92).

He received a B.A. in Law from Cambridge University in 1969 and an LL.M. from the University of Toronto in 1972.  Tim joined the firm in 1992 and became a partner in 1994.
