David White is a partner in Corporate/Commercial, Corporate Finance & Securities, and Structured Finance practices.

David acts regularly on asset securitizations programs, credit and other derivatives transactions and structured product offerings such as collateralized debt and loan obligations and synthetic securitizations. He has acted for issuers, sellers, purchasers, trustees, rating agencies and credit enhancers in connection with the securitization of receivables, loans, leases, and commercial and residential mortgages, the provision of credit default protection and other structured products.

David has previously worked with a number of Canada's chartered banks and other Canadian institutions in connection with their private investment funds and the establishment of their employee co-investment programs.

Representative Work
  • Represented Coventree Inc., Newshore Financial Services Inc., Polar Structured Products Inc., Quanto Financial Corporation, BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and Nereus Financial Inc. in connection with credit derivatives and securitization transactions entered into by their respective commercial paper conduits from 2001 through 2008.
  • Represented Bank of Montreal and BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. in connection with the 2008 restructuring of over $2 billion of asset-backed debt obligations and related credit derivatives transactions of Apex Trust and Sitka Trust.
  • Represented Dundee Securities Corp. in connection with the 2007 restructuring of over $2 billion of asset-backed debt obligations and related credit derivatives transactions of Skeena Capital Trust into White Knight Investment Trust.
  • Represented DBRS Limited in connection with the "Canadian Third Party ABCP" restructuring of approximately $30 billion of asset-backed debt obligations and related credit derivatives and securitization transactions into the Master Asset Vehicles.

David has spoken recently on issues in credit derivatives transactions with commercial paper conduits, as well as the market disruption factors leading to and the transactions involved in the "Canadian Third Party ABCP" restructuring.
