Gillian has acted for both public companies and private companies on numerous mergers and acquisitions, both in Canada and internationally. Gillian has also acted on numerous acquisition and conventional debt financings, as well as both debt and equity securities financings at the venture capital, pre-IPO, IPO and post-IPO levels, and has particular expertise in multi-jurisdiction, multi-lender secured financings. Gillian has also acted as general counsel to numerous start-up ventures, small cap issuers and private and public companies, in areas ranging from technology acquisitions to shareholder dispute resolution and is currently engaged by numerous clients for advice on privacy law matters.
Gillian received an LL.B. (with Distinction) from the University of Western Ontario in 1991 and articled at the firm in 1991-1992. She obtained an LL.M. from Cambridge University in England in 1993, having received a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship. Gillian became a partner in 1996.
Gillian has an extensive technology industry background and is currently Chair of the firm's Technology Committee.
