Greg Southam is a partner practising in the areas of commercial real estate, banking and corporate/commercial law. He has worked on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including share and asset acquisitions, construction matters, debt financings, gaming matters, public-private infrastructure projects, leasing, and acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate holdings.
Greg is currently lead counsel to the consortium selected as preferred proponent on the Port of Miami Tunnel project (Florida) and was lead counsel to the consortium selected to develop, build, finance and operate the Durham Consolidated Courthouse project (Ontario), the first P3 project relating to courthouses in North America. In the last few years, Greg has played a key role in advising a consortium in the Canadian public-private infrastructure sector, including on the Academic Ambulatory Care Centre of Vancouver General Hospital (British Columbia), Abbotsford Hospital and Cancer Centre (British Columbia) and Anthony Henday Drive Southeast Leg Ring Road (Alberta). In addition, he has assisted in advising a successful consortium on a light rail transit line in Ontario, advising the lenders on the Richmond Airport Vancouver Rapid Transit Project (now known as the Canada Line) (British Columbia) and has been involved in other infrastructure projects in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. Greg also played a principal role with another P3 client to secure a long-term leasehold interest free new performance theatre and training centre in Toronto. The Abbotsford project was awarded the 2004 North America P3 deal of the year and the RAV project was awarded the 2005 North America Transport deal of the year, in each case, by
Project Finance magazine.
In recent years, Greg played a key role in the multi-billion dollar disposition program of the Canadian office portfolio of one of Canada's largest public real estate corporations. He also played a lead role in the disposition program of the Canadian multi-family real estate portfolio of one of Canada's largest pension fund companies. Greg has also played a lead role in assisting Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation with its slot machine initiative at racetracks across the Province of Ontario. Greg has been involved, since the inception of the slot machine program, in lending, construction and operational matters relating to this initiative.

In recent years, Greg has provided legal counsel to Camp Oochigeas, a camp for children with cancer, including with respect to the acquisition of the Camp's new site in the Muskoka region of Ontario.
Greg received a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 and an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1996. Prior to graduation, he researched and assisted in writing numerous texts in the areas of personal property secured transactions, debt restructurings and alternative dispute resolution. Greg became a partner in 2000.
Greg is a co-chair of the firm's Student Committee, which is responsible for recruitment, development and evaluation of summer and articling students at the firm.
