Nicolas X. Cloutier is a partner in the litigation group. His practice focuses on federal and provincial income tax, property tax, customs and zoning. He has also worked in white-collar crime defense and GST/QST. Nicolas has appeared before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Superior Court, the Court of Quebec, the Tax Court of Canada and the Quebec Administrative Tribunal (property tax), pleading in both French and English.
As part of his income tax, customs and GST/QST practice, Nicolas has extensive experience in compliance and "pre-litigation" work at the audit and objection levels, where a great number of his cases are settled.
Over the years, Nicolas has been published extensively, and he is a regular contributor at the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF).
Nicolas is a member of the Quebec Bar, the Canadian Bar Association and the APFF. He attended McGill University and the Vermont Law School. He completed his B.C.L. and his LL.B. in 1996. He became a partner with the firm in 2003.
