Peter Hong is a partner in the corporate and securities law practice areas with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. He has been involved in a broad range of transactions, including the sale and acquisition of public and private companies, public offerings of debt and equity, private placements, going private transactions, corporate reorganizations and securitizations.
Peter has advised Agricore United in connection with the unsolicited take-over bid for Agricore United by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Vista Equity Partners in connection with its acquisition of MDSI Mobile Data Solutions, Wheaton River in connection with the take-over bid by Goldcorp for Wheaton River, Bain Capital in connection with its acquisition of Superpages Canada from Verizon, the Special Committee of Intier Automotive in connection with the acquisition of Intier by Magna International, the Special Committee of MI Developments in connection with its proposed take-over bid for Magna Entertainment, and BCE in connection with the sale of its controlling interest in BCE Emergis and the reacquisition by BCE of SBC's 20% interest in Bell Canada. Peter has also acted for minority shareholders in contested matters, such as Hawkeye Capital, Knott Partners and Pershing Square's opposition to Sears Holding's insider bid for Sears Canada and the proxy contest by Baker Brothers Investments to replace the board of directors of AnorMED.
Peter received a B.Comm. in 1992 and an LL.B. in 1995, both from the University of Toronto. He became a partner in 1999.
