Ivana Gotzeva is a partner in the corporate and securities law practice areas with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. She has been involved in a variety of transactions, including the sale and acquisitions of public and private companies, public offerings of debt and equity and private placements.
Ivana has recently been involved in the $1.15 billion offering of subscription receipts of Fortis Inc. in connection with the proposed acquisition by Fortis of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Terasen Inc. She has also acted for Fortis in connection with the US$49 million acquisition of a controlling stake in Caribbean Utilities, and the $140 million initial public offering of debentures of FortisBC Inc. Ivana was also part of the teams representing the Special Committee of Intier Automotive in connection with the acquisition of Intier by Magna International, the Special Committee of MI Developments in connection with its proposed take-over bid for Magna Entertainment, and BCE in connection with the sale of its controlling interest in BCE Emergis. In 2004, Ivana participated in all aspects of the reorganization under a plan of arrangement of Hemosol Inc. Ivana has also worked on a number of other corporate and commercial transactions.
Ivana received both a B.C.L. and LL.B. from McGill University in 2001 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She became a partner in 2006.
