Alex Pike is a partner practising environmental law in Davies' Toronto office. Her practice includes advising clients on environmental law issues in transactions such as real estate acquisition and development, lending transactions, securities offerings and leasing. In the context of such transactions, Alex co-ordinates the work of environmental consultants for the purpose of conducting due diligence, advises in respect of environmental liabilities and negotiates terms relating to environmental conditions.
Alex has a background in planning law and experience in the purchase and redevelopment of contaminated ("brownfield") properties. She is involved in various contaminated site remediations, including advising in respect of regulatory obligations.
Alex advises clients in matters relating to environmental management and compliance including air and wastewater emissions, waste diversion and disposal, asbestos management, PCB storage and disposal, new substance notification and Fisheries Act violations. She assists clients facing regulatory investigation or enforcement and also co-ordinates world-wide compliance audits.
Alex has advised clients on issues related to greenhouse gas emissions and emissions trading.
Alex is a member of the National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section and the former secretary to the Executive of the Environmental Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She has written and spoken on issues related to director and officer liability, the redevelopment of contaminated lands and federal and provincial environmental regulations and is a regular contributor to Legal Alert – Current Legal Developments Critical to Corporate Management.

Alex obtained a B.A. (Honours) from McGill University in 1989 and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa in 1993. Before joining Davies' Environmental Group, she practised for several years at a major Toronto law firm in litigation and administrative law with a special focus on land use planning and real estate development. She became a partner in 2003.
