Kent Beattie is a partner whose practice focuses on commercial real estate and corporate/commercial law. He has experience in real property acquisitions and dispositions across Canada (involving significant office, hotel, and shopping centre portfolios, mixed use commercial developments, railways, and mining properties), leasing, strategic alliances and outsourcing, real estate lending, loan restructurings and workouts, lease arbitrations, real estate development, joint venture mining initiatives, and loan portfolio purchases.
Kent played the principal role in bridge and project lending to a major North American race track owner and operator for proceeds in excess of US$330 million, in the disposition of 25 hotels across Canada for proceeds in excess of $300 million, and in assisting Ontario Northland Transportation Commission in the implementation of its service improvement plan involving Ontario Northland's railway business and telecommunications businesses. Kent also played a key role in the multi-billion dollar disposition program of the Canadian office portfolio of one of Canada's largest public real estate corporations, in Bell Canada's portfolio sale and leaseback, and in the disposition of the office and mixed use commercial portfolio of one of Canada's five chartered banks.
Kent graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989, receiving a specialist B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science. In 1992, Kent received his LL.B.
