Robert Murphy is a partner in the corporate and securities law practice areas with an emphasis on corporate finance transactions. He has worked on a variety of matters, including public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, asset acquisitions and divestitures, loan financings and corporate governance issues. Rob has also advised public companies on disclosure issues (including those relating to mining companies) and general commercial matters.
In the last few years, Rob has played a principal role as counsel to both issuers and underwriters in a number of major cross-border transactions, including offerings by Hydrogenics Corporation, Telus Corporation, Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited, Cascades Inc. and Placer Dome Inc. Rob has also worked on public offerings of structured financial products, including offerings by Mulvihill Pro-AMS 100 Plus Trusts and Mulvihill RSP Split Share Corp. In addition, Rob has represented several major U.S. investment banks on securities law compliance issues surrounding Canadian offerings.
Rob received a B.A. (Honours) in Economics in 1987 and an LL.B. in 1996, both from Queen's University. He became a partner in 2001.
