Bob Bauer is a senior partner with a principal focus on commercial real estate development, infrastructure projects, public-private partnerships, project financing and joint venture work.  He has developed particular expertise in large development projects, such as hospitals, rail stations and rail lines, toll roads, technology parks, urban infrastructure redevelopment, casino complexes, trade centres, amphitheatres, office buildings, shopping centres, government projects, water and sewage treatment facilities and other mixed-use projects.

Bob's practice has focused on Canadian projects and a broad range of international transactions.  He has played a principal role in large commercial real estate and infrastructure projects in the United States, Europe and Asia. He also acts for non-Canadians developing or investing in Canada.  For example, Bob has played a principal role in the development of hospital projects in Vancouver and Abbotsford, British Columbia, and North Bay, Ontario, the commercial casino projects in Niagara Falls, Windsor and Rama, the international rail tunnel between Windsor and Detroit, a toll road in Tampa, Florida, an airport development project in Budapest, Hungary and a landmark mixed use complex in Moscow.

Bob has been ranked by the prestigious Chambers Global's The World's Leading Lawyers 2007 edition as one of the top four lawyers in Canada in their newly created Public/Private Partnership category and has again been ranked in their top category of Canada's real estate development lawyers.  Additionally, he has been recognized as one of the top twenty-five real estate lawyers in the world in Euromoney's The Best of the Best and has been annually recognized as one of the most frequently recommended property development practitioners and repeatedly recommended project finance practitioners in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory.  Bob is listed in Canadian Who's Who, Law Business Research's The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers as a foremost real estate legal practitioner, LEXPERT/American Lawyer Media's Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and Euromoney Legal Media Group's Guide to the World's Leading Real Estate Lawyers.

Bob has written a number of papers and participated as a speaker in various legal and business conferences in the areas of infrastructure and real estate development, public/private partnerships, joint ventures and financing.  He received his B.A. from Harvard University and an LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1974.
