Mitchell Finkelstein is a partner with a diverse corporate, commercial and securities law practice with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.  He has acted for clients in a broad range of transactions, including the domestic and cross-border take-over bids and business combinations, acquisitions and dispositions or private companies, public and private offerings of equity, debt and structured products, and bank and mortgage financings.  Mitch also advises public companies on Canadian securities regulation and corporate governance matters on an ongoing basis.

In the past six years, Mitch has acted extensively in the real estate investment trust field, playing a lead role in the IPOs and follow-on offerings of, and bank, mezzanine and mortgaging financings for, IPC US REIT and InnVest REIT.  He also acted for the underwriters in the IPOs of Crombie REIT and Senior Care REIT.  Mitch is currently representing IPC US REIT in its public sales process and is acting for potential bidders participating in a public or private auctions process involving three other REITs.

Mitch is recognized among Lexpert Magazine's 2007 Rising Stars, Canada's Leading Lawyers Under 40.

Mitch received a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1990 and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa in 1994.  Prior to joining the firm in 1997, he practised in the Toronto office of another prominent Canadian firm.  Mitch became a partner in 1999.
