Conrad Druzeta is a partner practising in the areas of corporate, commercial and securities law. Since joining the firm as a student in 2002 he has worked on a variety of matters, including both public and private securities offerings, share and asset transactions, financings and reorganizations.
In 2006, Conrad was involved with the acquisition of Trizec Canada Inc. and Trizec Properties Inc. by Brookfield Properties Corporation in a transaction valued at approximately US$8.9 billion. Prior to this in 2004, he was part of a team that acted on the $1.985 billion acquisition by Bain Capital Partners, LLC of Verizon Information Services – Canada Inc. as well as a team that acted on the reorganization of the Ivaco group of companies, involving a sale of assets valued at approximately $375 million to affiliates of The Heico Companies LLC. Conrad has also been involved with public offerings in 2005 by Molson Coors Capital Finance ULC of approximately $1.05 billion of its senior notes and with private placements by Leisureworld Senior Care LP of $310 million senior secured debentures in 2005 and by Merrill Lynch & Co. of $700 million medium term notes in 2006.
Since its inception in 2003, Conrad has worked closely with NeurAxon Inc., a dynamic Canadian biotech start-up company, in connection with several rounds of venture capital financing, cross-border structuring matters and various corporate and commercial matters. As part of his practice, Conrad also advises clients on general compliance with securities regulation and other corporate and regulatory matters.
Prior to undertaking the practice of law, Conrad was extensively involved in the music industry, both as artist and as producer. For a number of years Conrad co-owned and operated an independent record label focusing on the U.S. college radio market and managed a professional recording facility. He has several production and song writing credits to his name.
Conrad received his LL.B. with Distinction from the University of Western Ontario where he graduated as Silver Medallist in 2003. He became a partner in 2007.
