It seems unnecessary to sing the praises of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg. One need only observe the passion which drives its people, the quality of the staff, the level of the challenges that they take up, and the emphasis they put on pleasure at work. People everywhere had told me that Davies was a class unto itself. I would certainly say the same to anyone that asks, but you have to see it for yourself. I consider a position at Davies to be a great honour: a privilege.

The flexibility of the stage, the mentorship program and the possibility of working on important mandates are all decisive points when comes time to choose a firm. However, choosing Davies was easy because it offers a complete and structured program of training which will allow me to quickly progress and adapt to a competitive market. At Davies work abounds and the lawyers wish more than anything to watch the students progress. This creates a feeling of belonging which is a central part of the Davies experience and is very satisfying for students.

For me, what sets Davies apart is not just the great people, the welcoming culture or the distinguished history, but the way in which the firm allows its students and stagiaires to take on meaningful roles in the many complex and fascinating mandates.  In a profession where new students learn by doing, Davies is clearly the best choice to develop a legal career in Canada.

I was attracted by the firm's international reputation and the high quality of its work. When I visited the office, I found Davies lawyers were not only passionate about what they do, but were also pleasant people who value working together. Beyond anything else, this is what encouraged me to choose Davies!

Some choose smaller firms for their team spirit. Some choose larger firms for their unique challenges. I chose the best of both worlds. I chose to join a large family that works on the most complex mandates and whose expertise is internationally renown. I chose an experienced team that offers its members all the tools to ensure their success. I chose Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg and I made the right choice !

Perhaps it goes without saying that its global reputation for excellence and the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging mandates was the reason that Davies was my first choice. However, that is not the whole story. What really sets Davies apart from other law firms is its culture. Here, everyone, from the support staff to the managing partners, is part of the same team – the Davies team, and from day one, I felt like an important part of that team. Everyone is warm, approachable and always willing to answer your questions. The collegial atmosphere almost makes you forget that you are sharing your Tuesday lunches and Friday cocktails with some of the best legal minds in Canada!

What attracted me first to Davies was its constant drive to attain excellence and the accent it puts on being a leader on the international scene. However, it  was through my conversations and meetings with different lawyers that my choice was confirmed. At Davies, I look forward to working in an intellectually stimulating environment which is profoundly human.

Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg is a place where excellence is not only a priority but also a culture. People come in all shapes and sizes at Davies as diversity has always been preserved and encouraged. But they all have one common ground: the dedication to being the best they can be and their passion for law. It is why the student program is built so that your formation prepares you for the exciting and stimulating responsibilities you will get, because you will get some! I am so very proud to be a part of such a historically fascinating firm for which no boundary was ever insurmountable, even the practice of law by women at a time where it was considered indecent.

During the recruitment process, in theory, I hoped to find a workplace that provided me with an intensely rewarding learning experience and that I would look forward to going to every day. In practice, this meant joining a charismatic, premier team where even a new recruit could quickly become a key player. In reality, theory and practice were one and the same at a truly unique firm that I am now honoured and thrilled to be a part of: Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg.

Excellence is Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg's philosophy and main priority and everything that we do follows from this principle.  Davies offers its students a training of the highest standards, filled with challenges, and lead by passionate people. Mandates that are given out are often of international scale and come with great responsibilities of the upmost importance. Davies sees more than just a student, they believe in the future lawyer in each and every one of us. They know that we have what it takes to be a part of the team, which is why they want to make this experience an exceptional one. It is a privilege to have received an offer from this firm.

Before starting the recruitment process, the only thing I knew about Davies was its' prestigious reputation. Afterwards, I realized that Davies was indeed a firm of high quality, but that it had much more to offer than intellectually challenging work experiences. I really felt that Davies was the law firm for me when I met lawyers that were already talking to me as if I was one of them. Leaving the office, I wanted only to return.

I favoured Davies right off the bat because of its reputation for excellence as a leading Canadian law firm with an international reach. I knew that joining Davies would mean that I would acquire the best knowledge, expertise and legal training possible. Yet, it was once I stepped into the office and met with the lawyers, staff and students that I realized that by choosing Davies I would invariably be working with a unique team of talented, friendly and inspiring colleagues.

What impresses me most about Davies is the customized approach it takes to professional development.  Davies understands that no two lawyers are the same.  Whether you are a summer student or a senior partner, you have the flexibility to define your own goals and the opportunity to chart your own path.  If you are looking for a "tailor made" experience in a top-tier firm with an international reputation, the choice is clear: Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg.

Its' reputation of excellence was the first thing  that drew my attention to Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg. However, it is the passion that clearly drives everyone who works here and the flexibility of the stage program that made Davies the obvious choice for me. The fantastic orientation program, the warm welcome I received from everyone here and the importance given to students’ work have all since confirmed my decision.

As far as I am concerned, coming to Davies was an obvious choice. Beyond the reputation of the firm and its involvement in eminent legal matters, it is the passion, creativity and kindness of its people that make Davies an incomparable place of work. Being a part of Davies allows oneself to grow amongst the best, within an outstanding team, on a professional as well as personal basis.

The possibility to work in an intellectually stimulating work environment naturally drew me to consider a career at Davies but I was equally attracted to the firm’s amicable culture and the types of people that they hired. Today, I can say with certainty that the mix of professionalism and socialization is more than a simple formula, it is the Davies’ signature.

For me, being part of this firm was not simply the obvious choice, it was also my ultimate goal. Combining passion and creativity on a daily basis, Davies allows me to develop within an elite group of people and to be constantly faced with new and enriching challenges. The early responsibilities given to students offers even the most junior members of the firm the possibility to quickly reach the top. In other words, it is that rare workplace where the word "impossible" simply does not exist.

In looking for a law firm, I was looking for a place that was down to earth but also a place where I would be constantly challenged. I recognized immediately  that Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg was the one for me.  At Davies, I have found the most stimulating work atmosphere, a friendly and passionate staff and have quickly been confided with real responsibility. In retrospect, my first impression was right on target: Davies is a top-tier firm where the emphasis is on team work, what more could I ask for!

In my mind, the people at Davies set this firm apart more so than its reputation in excellence or its prestigious place in the legal practice. The people are open, approachable, interesting, and surprisingly athletic. Their office doors wide open, the lawyers seem always willing to help a student in distress. I look forward to a summer of learning new things, confronting challenges, and forging great friendships.

I was attracted to Davies by the firm's distinguishing feature:  its culture.  The working environment, the human approach and the highly skilled team of lawyers, as well as the role played by the students are the key elements which guided my choice.  At Davies, we are involved in significant mandates with dedicated and experienced lawyers and we have the opportunity to receive a first class training within a team of professionals striving to achieve the highest standards.

Davies is to Excellence what icing is to a cake. I am proud to join a team with a long and prestigious tradition and that has a reputation that knows no limits. Here, success is driven by know-how and molded by eloquence and passion. Davies has given me a head start in what it takes to have a successful legal career.

The possibility of working at a firm in Montreal with a strong national and international presence is what first attracted me to Davies, however, it was the casual and friendly demeanour of the lawyers that I met that sealed the deal for me. Davies combines a top reputation with a thoughtful and flexible approach to developing their students into lawyers. For these reasons, coming to Davies was an easy choice to make.

Davies was a natural choice for me because of the people who I met throughout the recruitment process. Everyone who I met was warm, available and willing to address any question I had, at any time. What really attracted my attention was that the lawyers remained in constant contact with me even after the interviews, and treated me as an equal rather than a subordinate. I figured that if a firm could show that much concern for someone who was only a candidate that it must be an amazing place to work. For me, it was not a question of if I would choose Davies, but if Davies would choose me.

Davies gives its students the opportunity to receive a training of the highest standards, where excellence goes hand in hand with collegiality. Students are quickly able to leave their mark: after all, team work is one of the most fundamental values of the firm. Here, all types of personalities come together to make a greater whole. Besides, the work that is given to us as students presents a constantly evolving challenge that motivates us to surpass ourselves. It is a great privilege to be a part of this team where lawyers take the training and development of their successors at heart.
