At the end of my first summer as a third year student, I am as confident as ever in my decision to work for DWPV. Indeed, many factors confirmed my desire to become one of their lawyers.

First, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of guidance given to arriving students and stagiaires. Nothing was left to chance. We were instructed on available databases, computer programs and telephone usage as well as on legal updates. We were even introduced to support personnel in order to demystify everyone's role in the firm. I really felt that DWPV cared deeply about making us part of the team and that everything was being done so that our integration went as smoothly as possible. With that kind of training, many of my fears simply disappeared…

Then I noticed the atmosphere within the firm, and once again I was pleased. I must admit I had certain apprehensions about working with students from other universities who were probably very competitive. But the ambiance was really friendly and I saw how helpful all students and stagiaires were towards one another. Whether it be sharing interesting discoveries made while researching similar cases, lending a helping hand when you're swamped or reviewing the writings of a colleague who is less proficient in French or in English, team spirit and helpfulness are a way of life.

And there's the informal structure of the firm, the fact that senior partners are as open and available as younger lawyers, the available resources, the high level of trust and responsibility granted to students, the quality of mandates we work on, and the energy level of the team… I can't wait to come back next summer!
