Constitutional Litigation

Our constitutional litigation group advises our clients on a broad array of constitutional matters raising the division of powers, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Canadian Bill of Rights.  Our litigators have significant experience in constitutional matters at all levels of courts, and include several former law clerks at the Supreme Court of Canada.  A sampling of a few of our most recent constitutional cases illustrates the diversity and depth of our constitutional practice:
  • Acting for the Canadian broadcasting industry to defend the constitutionality of federal legislation prohibiting satellite television piracy;
  • Challenging the investigative practices of the Competition Bureau under the Canadian Bill of Rights on behalf of a leading Canadian manufacturing company.
