Our labour & employment practice handles an impressive array of issues, including wrongful dismissal, employment litigation, occupational health and safety, collective bargaining, arbitration, interpretation, certification and collective agreement, worker's compensation, and human rights complaints and investigations in both the provincial and federal sectors. We advise clients on pay equity, employment equity, insolvency, the purchase and sale of businesses and other corporate transactions. Our team members provide help in developing policy manuals, in hiring and interview techniques, in corrective action programs and in grievance arbitration. Many of these clients operate with both white and blue-collar workers, some of whom belong to trade unions. As a result, we have developed a particular expertise in key areas affecting large employers, including dispute resolution, dismissals, employment agreements, policy manuals and performance issues, health and safety/human rights issues and pension and benefits.

The scope of our experience and familiarity with the issues will allow us to turn around work on very short notice and to deal with our clients' labour and employment priorities as quickly as these issues arise. The extent of our labour & employment practise is best illustrated with a sampling of our recent engagements:

  • Acquisition by way of take-over bid of Montreal-based Shirmax Fashion Ltd;
  • Acquisition by San Francisco-based Oracle Corporation of all outstanding shares of Steltor Inc.;
  • Acquisition of La Ronde Amusement Park in Montréal
