Our firm has acted on a number of REIT offerings in recent years. We played a leading role in the initial public offering of the only two REIT's in Quebec to date. We have also been instrumental in the use of private REITs in the US for Canadian clients acquiring US real estate.
Examples of our REIT work include the following:
- Acting for Goldman, Sachs & Co./Westmont Hospitality Group in the $300 million initial public offering of units of InnVest Real Estate Investment Trust and the acquisition of a portfolio of 114 hotels located throughout Canada;
- Acting for IPC(US), Inc. in theinitial public offering by IPC US Income Comercial REIT, Canada's first REIT to invest exclusively in US commercial real estate properties;
- Acting for Cominar REIT in the offering of $69 million units of Cominar REIT;
- Acting for Alexis Nihon Real Estate Investment Trust in the $85 million initioal publicc offering of units of Alexis Nihon Real Estate Investment Trust.
