Our litigators have extensive experience in competition litigation, including proceedings before the Canadian Competition Tribunal and all levels of the courts.  Our strength in this area is reinforced by the expertise of our renowned competition & foreign investment review group with whom we work closely in representing clients on a wide variety of competition related litigation.  We have significant expertise in representing clients in conspiracy, bid-rigging, abuse of dominance and contested merger cases.  The extent of our practice and breadth of our experience is best illustrated by a sampling of our recent cases:

• Represented Canada Pipe in the Competition Bureau's investigation of certain of its distribution practices.   After a hearing at the Federal Court of Appeal, this matter was resolved by negotiated Consent Agreement in December 2007;
• Representing Aventis in proceedings brought by the Commissioner of Competition in the Federal Court of Canada regarding an alleged conspiracy in the sale and marketing of methylglucamine;
• Representing Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. in proceedings before the Competition Tribunal concerning the divestiture of the Port Alfred Mill;
• Representing Agricore United in proceedings before the Competition Tribunal arising out of the acquisition by United Grain Growers of Agricore Co-operative;
• Representing Chapters and Indigo Books in consent order proceedings before the Competition Tribunal arising out of their then proposed merger.
