Barrick Gold Corporation made a US$1.7 billion unsolicited all-cash offer for all outstanding shares of NovaGold Resources Inc.  Following completion of the bid Barrick acquired approximately 14.8% of outstanding shares, making it the single largest shareholder of NovaGold.  Davies provided M&A, securities, tax, litigation and competition counsel to Barrick.
