Barrick Gold Corporation entered into a joint venture with Falconbridge Limited in respect of the Kabanga nickel deposit in Tanzania pursuant to which Falconbridge acquired an indirect 50% interest in the Kabanga nickel deposit and related concessions for $15 million and agreed to fund a $50 million work plan and the next $95-million of development expenses at the deposit.
