Wheaton River Minerals Ltd. was acquired by Goldcorp Inc. in a transaction valued at CDN$2.4 billion.  Each Wheaton River share was exchanged for 0.25 of a Goldcorp share. The transaction was carried out by way of a share exchange take-over bid followed by a second-step plan of arrangement under the OBCA.
